The community at Foreside Community church is exploring and continually discovering that there is more to life when following Jesus Christ. While led by a Pastor, there are many other people that make up this community, and their contributions strengthen us in ways both large and small.
On a day-to-day level, we are structured as follows:
Almost everything that happens at Foreside Community Church is done through volunteers who invest time and energy to make our services and ministries possible. We share the job and joys of sharing the gospel of Jesus and making a difference in our community by contributing our talents to the church in a serving role. All members of the United Church of Christ are called to minister to others and to participate as equals in the common worship of God, each with direct access to the mercies of God through personal prayer and devotion. Recognition is given to those among us who have received special training in pastoral, priestly, educational and administrative functions, but these persons are regarded as “servants” rather than as persons in authority. Their task is to guide, to instruct, to enable the ministry of all Christians rather than to do the work of ministry for us.
Our small groups are known as Ministries – and they are crucial to who we are as a community. They are the backbone of our structure, helping the people in their groups to explore and discover what it means to walk in Jesus’ footsteps and give humbly to one another.
The Foreside Community Church Governing Board is the highest level of authority in the local church and are ultimately responsible for its doctrine, direction and discipline.
Pastor, Music Directors, and Staff
Foreside Community Church is led by a single, full time Pastor. This dedicated individual provides leadership in the Church, inspiration at the pulpit, and connects regularly with individuals throughout our community. In September 2018 we called The Rev. Geoff Parker to be our new settled pastor. The church is led musically by a Music Director and an Organist/Accompanist. See our Ministry of Music page for more information. Our small but dedicated staff provide opportunity, equipping, encouragement, and support to the congregation by doing the things that need to be done to support our Ministries and accomplish our mission. Visit our Staff page to learn about their ministry, support, and leadership at FCC.
