Worship Ministry

We welcome you to worship at Foreside Community Church

Our church is 200 years old, but our thinking is not.   God is still speaking.

We believe in God’s continuing testament.  This is why we are committed to hearing God’s ancient story anew and afresh in our lives and in the world today.  When you come to FCC, you will find a warm inviting, friendly group of people committed to making church memorable, life-changing and enjoyable.  The service is geared for the whole family and speaks to us all.  Worship is traditional yet innovative; it’s reverent yet progressive and open.    God’s communion table is open and so is ours. We welcome all seekers.

Reflections about Worship at FCC and serving as a Minister of Worship

Come join us!    FCC offers a true community church worship service —  Open and Affirming, welcoming many faith backgrounds with lay leaders participating in various aspects of worship, a children’s moment that speaks to children of all ages,  fabulous music and  a small, simply decorated and intimate sanctuary.     I have felt nurtured here for over 30 years.                     Gail Cinelli

Our church structure is designed to allow members and friends of Foreside Community Church to minister to each other. Serving on the Ministry of Worship has enhanced the meaning of “minister to each other” for me. It has given me the unique opportunity to minister to my friends, neighbors and others when the Ministry of Worship works together with our Pastor to help plan worship services that may provide more of a tangible connection to the teachings of Jesus. It is especially meaningful when we serve Communion to one another. Having the opportunity to serve Communion is in a sense the ultimate way in which we minister to each other spiritually – receiving forgiveness and grace for all that we are and are not as people of God working to live better lives.            Kathy Hillman-Reed

I haven’t been attending Foreside Community Church for as long as many of the members here, but that doesn’t matter.  I feel comfortable and at home when I’m here and there’s always some nugget or stone of wisdom that I take home every week.  Sometimes it’s a few lines from the sermon; sometimes it’s a lesson from the children’s moment; sometimes it’s an anthem that the choir sang or special musical piece that touched me; sometimes it’s a word that caught my breath during the sharing or pastoral prayer.  Whatever rock I receive during the worship service, it is always complemented with the warmth of greeting friends from my church family.  Join us.  Beth Shaw

What is the Ministry of Worship?

We are a group of members of Foreside Community Church who, according to our bylaws, “faithfully nurture the spiritual interests of the Church and provide for a safe and welcoming space for the worship of God.” Our role specifically is to work and collaborate with our Pastor in the work of the Church and ministering to each other, which includes conducting worship services and participating in the Sacraments of Baptism & Holy Communion.

The Ministry of Worship encourages and supports the work of the other Ministries in our church, particularly the Ministry of Christian Education and the Ministry of Justice & Outreach, as we strive to collaborate to serve all who find their way to Foreside Community Church.

ALTAR FLOWERS
The Ministry of Worship REMINDS you how much the ALTAR FLOWERS enhance our worship experience… So please think about when you might like to dedicate some in celebration of someone or some special event in your life, or in memory of someone you love to remember. It is yet one more ministry which may call to you: that of beautifying our sanctuary for worship and in praise of God.You may sign-up on the chart on the bulletin board just across from the Church Office, or simply fill out this form and place it in the offering plate along with your donation (flower arrangements are $35+) well marked for the “flower fund.” Please be sure to write your dedication just as you wish it to appear in the Sunday bulletin.
