The Apostle Paul writes of the bind of human life: where we so often do the very things that contradict our deepest commitments and values. How are we called, as Christians living in nations, to bear witness and move in hope among the contradictions inherit in our nation’s values and public actions? How do we call our communities, states, and nations to more closely match the compassion and justice we hear described in God’s coming realm of peace?
