Bryan Gattis' Bike Trip Across America
I spent some time volunteering at a health clinic in southwestern
Kenya last year, and I left there at once honored to have
had that experience, but also deeply affected by the devastation
that HIV/AIDS had brought in that particular region (where
approximately every other person is infected). I returned
to the U.S. and felt strongly compelled to bring whatever
aid to this devastation that I could. My goal in the coming
months is to cycle across the US, to raise awareness for
this horrible situation, and to raise money to help a portion
of the population in a way that will be sustainable. All
donations I collect will be sent directly to this health
clinic, where I volunteered, as well as to a high school
in the same area of Kenya that educates those children who
have been orphaned by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. A more detailed
description of what I hope to provide for the clinic and
school is available on my website at www.crossingforkenya.weebly.com.
Thank you all for your support, and please keep the people
of Kenya in your prayers. ~ Bryan
Offsets
Annually each American produces nearly 20 tons
of carbon dioxide, the major global warming gas, because
of the way we live. We CAN better protect our environment.
Anyone can “green
up” their electricity or fossil fuel use by purchasing “Carbon
Offsets” that will make up for (offset) the dirty fuel
CO2 pollution caused by car travel, plane travel, or home power
and heating. Businesses can also offset manufacturing and business
pollution. Offsets provide resources to produce clean “green
energy” through wind power, solar power and other new technologies.
Wind Power Offsets are often called “Wind Watts”.
Carbon Offsets can be purchased from:
